He Said, She Said: Trump Pledges to ‘Remove the Jew Haters,’ Harris Does ‘60 Minutes’

Election Day is four weeks away, and former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have been hitting the campaign trail hard.

Both Trump and Harris on Monday marked the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel with remarks. Trump also did an interview with conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt, in which he made his latest controversial comments about migrants, referencing their “genes.” Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared on a “60 Minutes” election special, while Trump declined an invitation to participate.

HE SAID/SHE SAID

Trump Promises to ‘Remove the Jew Haters’

  • “I will defend our American Jewish population. I will protect your communities, your schools, your places of worship and your values. We will remove the jihadist sympathizers and Jew haters. We’re going to remove the Jew haters who do nothing to help our country, they only want to destroy our country,” Trump said at the Oct. 7 commemoration event.
  • “The bond between the United States and Israel is strong and enduring … if and when I’m president of the United States, it will, once again, be stronger and closer than it ever was before. We have to win this election. If we don’t win this election, there’s tremendous consequence for everything.”
  • "How about allowing people to come to an open border, 13,000 of which were murderers," Trump said during his interview with Hewitt. “Many of them murdered far more than one person, and they're now happily living in the United States. You know, now a murderer, I believe this, it's in their genes. And we got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.”

Harris Honors Oct. 7 Victims, Criticizes Trump for Dropping ‘60 Minutes’

  • “I will never forget Oct. 7, and the world must never forget,” Harris said during a tree-planting ceremony on the grounds of the vice president’s residence. “We must work to ensure nothing like the horrors of Oct. 7 can ever happen again.”
  • Asked on “60 Minutes” whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a close ally, Harris sidestepped the question: “I think, with all due respect, the better question is do we have an important alliance between the American people and the Israeli people, and the answer to that question is yes.”
  • “If he is not gonna give your viewers the ability to have a meaningful, thoughtful conversation, question and answer with you, then watch his rallies,” Harris said about Trump’s decision to pass on the show. “You're gonna hear conversations that are about himself and all of his personal grievances. And what you will not hear is anything about you, the listener.”

Immigration and the southern border are proving to be a top issue in the

presidential election, with both Harris and Trump addressing it on Monday. Harris, during her “60 Minutes” interview, said that Congress must act on the border.

“It’s a long-standing problem. And solutions are at hand. And from Day 1, literally, we have been offering solutions,” she said.

Trump, meanwhile, has a long history of making disparaging remarks about immigrants. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre slammed his latest remarks as “hateful speech.” Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the former president "was clearly talking about MURDERERS – not migrants."

Today on the Trail

Trump was scheduled to participate in a Univision News town hall in Miami, but the event was postponed due to Hurricane Milton. He will participate in a virtual “Make America Healthy Again” town hall with former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

Sen. JD Vance of Ohio will campaign for Trump in Detroit, Michigan.

Harris appears on “The View” for her first live televised interview since becoming the Democratic nominee. She will also be interviewed on “'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Howard Stern Show.”

Walz will hold a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada.
